Batey Relief Alliance

Addressing socioeconomic and health-related needs of families and children in the Dominican Republic

The Batey Relief Alliance is a humanitarian aid organization that provides relief to families and children living in the bateys. The bateys are segregated rural slums in the Dominican Republic that house many Haitian migrant workers and their families living in extreme poverty.

Program goals:
  • Ensure free healthcare services for 100 women and their 450 children, including free visits to the Batey Relief Alliance‚Äôs professional health clinic and hygiene and nutritional counseling
  • Offer small grants, agricultural training, and follow up visits to 100 women to help them create, finance, and implement agricultural development strategies

  • USD 200 will provide a woman with 260 hours of agricultural training for a full year
