UNESCO’s Global Partnership for Girls’ and Women’s Education; Supporting the Malala Fund for Girls Education in Tanzania

In 2012, the UN Secretary-General developed the Global Education First Initiativeto use the transformative power of education to build a better future for all. Its priorities are to put every child in school, improve the quality of learning, and foster global citizenship.

UNFCU Foundation provides funding to support UNESCO’s Malala Fund for Girls’ Right to Education project that aims to benefit 1,050 students in Tanzania.

Program goals:
  • Increase secondary school enrollment and the academic performance of adolescent girls with emphasis on math and science.
  • Establish inclusive and gender-responsive learning approaches/practical activities and materials to contribute to increasing performance rates among girls.
  • Reduce the drop-out rate by at least 30% among girls within 36 months.
