Empowering women in Northern Uganda through micro‑enterprise development

Over the past two decades, Village Enterprise has used its one-year micro enterprise program to start over 36,000 businesses, train over 146,000 new small business owners and lift over 780,000 people out of extreme poverty.

For a second year, UNFCU Foundation’s support will enable Village Enterprise to further its impact in Northern Uganda.

Program goals:
  • Provide economic opportunities for 300 women to create 100 sustainable income-generating businesses to improve their families' lives
  • Increase financial inclusion by creating 10 Business Savings Groups which allow women to control and save their income and become empowered to take on roles of leadership and decision-making in their families
