Women for Women International

Teaching poor women living in conflict areas in Nigeria how to build and manage savings groups to support their micro-businesses

Launched in 1993, Women for Women International (WfWI) supports marginalized women living in conflict areas by providing them with social and economic empowerment, including basic business and vocational skills training.

UNFCU Foundation is supporting WfWI’s 12-month program that provides for the formation of savings and loan groups that support women’s self-determination in financial decision‑making.

Program goals:
  • Establish and train 20 savings groups that will teach 250 women in Nigeria how to start, grow, and manage micro‑businesses
  • Train 30 women as Village Agents to support and sustain the savings groups
Your donation of:
  • $120 will allow a woman to start her own micro-business through savings and loan group participation for a year
